For Profit Business

Business Edition License

You must use Business Edition licenses in your business.

Business Edition licenses can either be issued:

• In the name of the business. This permits the license to be installed on a maximum of 1 machine at a time, which only 1 person may use at any one time.
• To a named employee. This permits only this employee to use the license.

Usage of Personal Edition licenses are strictly prohibited for business use. As a business, you must use Business Edition licenses. If you wish to test Construct 2 for suitability, you are permitted to use the Free Edition strictly for internal suitability testing.

Startup Business

Personal Edition License

You can use Personal Edition licenses, but you'll need to upgrade to Business Edition soon.

Startup Businesses are defined as ones that have made less than $5,000 USD revenue (or equivalent) over their entire business history.

As a startup business, you are permitted to purchase Personal Edition licenses. You need to purchase 1 Personal Edition license per employee who needs to use Construct 2, and name the employee on the issued license.

As soon as your business makes over $5,000 USD revenue (or equivalent) you are no longer permitted to use these licenses for business use under any circumstances. To continue usage, you must upgrade all licenses you wish to continue using in your business to Business Edition licenses.

Non Profit Business

Business Edition License

You should use Business Edition licenses, but email us as we may have provisions for your organisation.

You should use Business Edition licenses. However, we do have some provisions for non-profit organisations that allow you to use Personal Edition licenses instead. To see if you qualify, please email support@scirra.com with a link to your website and a breif description of what you plan to use Construct 2 for.

Hobbyist/Indie Dev

Personal Edition License

You can use a Personal Edition license!

You are permitted to use the Personal Edition license! This is one of our best value licenses. It's a one off payment, and all updates to the Construct 2 Editor are free for life!

State Run Educational Institute

Good news! We have an educational program which offers site-wide licenses for your institute, as well as take-home licenses for students. Read all the details and order here.

If you don't want to subscribe to our educational program, you may purchase Personal Edition licenses. Each Personal Edition license allows for install on a single machine on-site. You are also more than welcome to use the Free Edition of Construct 2 in classes if budget doesn't permit.

Privately Run Educational Institute

Personal Edition License

You can buy Personal Edition licenses. 1 license allows usage for 1 concurrent user.

As a privately run educational institute you will need to buy Personal Edition licenses. Each Personal Edition license allows you to install Construct 2 on a single machine.

Please note, as an educational institute you're perfectly welcome to use the Free Edition if the budget doesn't allow purchase of Personal Editions at this time.
